American Bobtail - The American Bobtail is a brawny, naturally occurring breed of domestic cat with a water resistant coat found in both medium and shorthaired varieties. Characterized by a wild, bobcat-like appearance, this breed’s trademark tail grows to reach 1- 1¼” in length. Sharing an athletic and muscular build, the look of a natural hunter is made complete by a broad, wedge-shaped skull accented by a prominent brow, widely-set ears, and two large, almond-shaped eyes. Members of this remarkably outgoing and interactive breed are known for their fun-loving, amicable personalities well-suiting them for life in homes with or without children or other types of pets. While typically reserved while in the presence of unfamiliar faces, American Bobtails are frequently noted for demonstrating an unexpectedly polite and cordial attitude. These cats are known for being particularly vocal- especially once excited- and own a unique assortment of trills, chirps, and even clicks. Members of the breed take quickly to leash-training, and even enjoy going on walks. While the ancestry of the American Bobtail still remains under debate to this day, the breed is known to occur thanks to a dominant hereditary mutation, and are typically said to grow to reach 7-15lbs. in weight once fully mature.
