Black and Tan Coonhound Breeders |
![]() |
Black & Tan Coonhound - The Black and Tan Coonhound is a hardy, working dog breed appearing with a short, dense black coat marked with tan along the brow, sides of the muzzle, legs, and full, well-sprung chest. Wide-open nostrils, dark, hazel eyes, and a set of drooping, pendent-shaped ears provide this breed with a uniquely alert, yet still, very amicable expression. Compact feet with tough pads and a thick, strong tail are also characteristic of the breed. The overall presence of this breed is one of great strength, courage, and stamina. Combining a graceful gait with a powerful and steadfast performance, Black and Tan Coonhounds posses each of the skills and characteristics of a tried-and-true scent hound. Historically valued for their superior level of endurance and matched keen sense of smell, Black and Tan Coonhounds have predominantly been used to hunt raccoon, deer, bear, and mountain lion. Black and Tan Coonhounds gained notoriety with the AKC in the year of 1945 with their admittance to the Hound Group. Black and Tan Coonhounds generally grow to reach 23-27” in height at 65-130lbs in weight once fully mature. |
The state location of the dog breeders is listed next to their classified ads.
